UP-WOODRAIL FAMILY MEDICINE CLINIC

Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

Where are you located?
1000 W. Nifong Boulevard, Building 2 Suite 140 in Columbia, located in Woodrail Office Park on the southwest corner of Nifong and Forum (across from Walgreens). Our clinic is on the first floor of the building -- to the left of the water fountain and in the northeast corner of the office park.

What are clinic hours?
7:30 AM to 8:00 PM Monday-Tuesday; 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday through Friday.

How do I schedule an appointment?
Call 573-882-7411.

Do you offer same-day appointments?
That is always our goal, and we usually achieve it.

What do I do if I can’t make an appointment?
Call 573-882-7411 and inform the staff as soon as possible. If you are running late, you may have to reschedule the appointment for a later time.

What happens if I miss an appointment?
Call 573-882-7411 and inform the staff as soon as possible. Missing an appointment wastes time that could be used by another patient. If you frequently miss appointments, we may ask you to seek care elsewhere.

What do I do if I need after-hours care?
Call Healthconnect 24 at 888-884-2401.

How can I get a question to my doctor?
Call 573-882-7411 and ask to leave a message for your provider.

Do the physicians use e-mail to communicate with patients?
In most cases, no. We consider e-mail to be an unsecure form of communication and do not want to risk divulging any of your confidential medical information by using it.

I am a new patient; what doctor will I see?
You can see a brief biography of our providers at http://apps.muhealth.org/findaphysician/ or you can ask the appointment staff to help you select a provider.

Can I request a female physician?
Yes.

HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS

Who are the providers?
Providers are medical staff members who provide health care to patients. Providers at our clinic include osteopathic and family medicine physicians.

What is a nurse practitioner?
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed advanced nursing education (generally a master’s degree) and training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions. Our medical staff includes nurse practitioners who provide a broad range of health care services to patients.

Will there be student/learners in the exam room?
We train medical students in all of our family medicine clinics, and part of their learning experience requires them to accompany our physician faculty in the exam room. If your doctor has a medical school shadowing him/her on the day of your appointment, we will ask for your permission before we allow the student in the exam room.
