Program of Research Integrating Substance Use Information
into Mainstream Healthcare

Partnership for Research Integrity in Science and Medicine (PRISM)

This collaborative research effort led by Barbara Turner, MD, of the Society of General Internal Medicine, includes the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the American Geriatric Society. Dr. Vinson leads the AAFP project within PRISM, which is a cross-sectional, practice-based study of sleep and alcohol problems. The idea behind it is that, if associations are found, physicians will have one more connection between problems patients are comfortable discussing and potential alcohol issues, making integration of alcohol-problem discussions into routine care easier.
